Hillary Clinton lies again over emails, even Politifact couldn’t cover for her
During Sunday night’s debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, the topic of her personal email server and deletion of thousands of emails, including classified and top secret communications, became a heated topic which Clinton lied about again. Trump vowed to get a special prosecutor to examine the scandal.
“…the people that have been long time workers at the FBI are furious,” Trump said. “There has never been anything like this where e-mails, and you get a subpoena. You get a subpoena, and after getting the subpoena you delete 33,000 e-mails and then you acid wash them or bleach them, as you would say. Very expensive process. So we’re gonna get a special prosecutor and we’re gonna look into it. Because you know what, people have been — their lives have been destroyed for doing 1/5 of what you have done. And it’s a disgrace, and honestly, you oughta be ashamed of yourself.”
“Everything he just said is absolutely false, but I’m not surprised,” Clinton responded quickly and then plugged her personal fact checking before adding that “it’s just awfully good that someone with the temperament of Donald Trump is not in charge of the law in our country.”
Trump hit back: “Because you would be in jail.”
The reference was made to James Comey, the FBI investigation which found 110 emails in 52 chains were determined to have classified information, with eight of those chains containing “Top Secret”information, 36 chains contained “Secret information,” and eight containing “Confidential information.”
Despite Wikileaks and others having the emails, Clinton said that”there is no evidence that anyone hacked the server I was using and there is no evidence that anyone can point to at all, anyone who says otherwise has no basis, that any classified materials ended up in the wrong hands. I take classified materials very seriously and always have.
Politifact couldn’t cover for Clinton here, softening the Trump assertions to “Half True” as they note “an August 2016 FBI report on its investigationshows that Trump’s claim has some merit.”
After recounting the timeline, Politifact basically echoed the Clinton talking point that we don’t know intent and it’s “unprovable.”
Here’s what they said: The FBI’s investigation did find several thousand emails among those deleted that were work-related and should have been turned over to the State Department. However, FBI Director James Comey said in a July 2016 statement that the FBI investigation “found no evidence that any of the additional work-related emails were intentionally deleted in an effort to conceal them.”
Julian Assange noted that there are emails regarding “…the disastrous, absolutely disastrous intervention in Libya, the destruction of the Gaddafi government, which led to the occupation of ISIS of large segments of that country, weapons flows going over to Syria, being pushed by Hillary Clinton, into jihadists within Syria, including ISIS, that’s there in those emails. There’s more than 1,700 emails in Hillary Clinton’s collection, that we have released, just about Libya alone.”
